The Ground Breaking Pilot
HOW 60 SCHOOLS IN SOMERSET APPROACHED FOOD PROCUREMENT QUITE DIFFERENTLY
In 2015, two procurement officers at Bath and North East Somerset Council decided to improve the choice of local produce available to school cooks.

3 years later, 100+ school cooks had prepared more than two million meals with produce sourced from over 20 new sustainable, local producers and suppliers. More fresh local produce from more local businesses and at a lower financial and environmental cost than before. The pilot was a declared a success and dynamic food procurement was born.
